November is here! While our state only just recorded its first frost of the year, it won’t be long before snow and freezing rain start back up again and introduce hazardous driving conditions throughout the winter. With that in mind, we wanted to outline the most common services and repairs we perform to ensure our customers are ready to stay safe and power through the winter with ease.

Tire Service

Tire service is one thing you should never put off, especially when inclement weather is expected. If all goes as planned, your tires will be the only part of your vehicle contacting the road this winter. As such, it’s worth inspecting them prior to the first snow of the year to determine whether they have sufficient tread to carry you through the winter. You’ll be pleased to discover they are showing signs of wear now rather than when you are struggling to come to a stop in wintery conditions. If your tires still have plenty of life, you could potentially still benefit from a rotation to extend their life and give us the chance for up-close observations of your tires and brakes.

Focus on Visibility

Now that your car is able to grip the slippery road with tire service taken care of, you’ll want to do everything you can to ensure you can see as clearly as possible outside of your vehicle.  Are you making do with an old set of windshield wipers? Here is your reminder to change them before the first snow of the year! We also recommend walking the perimeter of your vehicle to double check that all of your lights are fully functional and shining brightly.

Battery Replacement

There are a few symptoms that tell when it’s time for a battery replacement, and they are likely to worsen as the weather gets colder and colder.  Don’t get caught out waiting for a jumpstart this winter and make sure your battery has plenty of life left!

Replenish Your Anti-freeze

When it gets cold enough outside, it’s easy to start yearning for a warm room to cozy up in. Our cars prefer warmth as well, and they can actually regulate their temperature quite well if we keep them refreshed with coolant. Without an adequate level of antifreeze, your engine may shut off to prevent damage from running in freezing cold temperatures.
